Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization which ultimately allows someone an opportunity to be a home owner. The person must go through an application process, expend at least 500 “sweat equity” hours in the construction of their new home and hold a job that will pay for a small mortgage each month. It is a commitment which involves dedication and a dream.
Upon completion of the house, a ceremony is held at which time the house is given a blessing, the family receives many well wishes and food items to fill the kitchen cupboards and of course, the much anticipated “key.” Sunset Slope Quilters provide a quilt for the family not only to keep them warm but to surround them with love.
Caroline Brueggeman shows a quilt commissioned by Habitat for Humanity to hang in their ReStore in Grand Junction.
This Quilt took her 3 months to complete. Fantastic job, Caroline!
