Spring Barnes & Noble Book Fair and Quilt Show

Sunset Slope Quilters and Barnes & Noble presented our Spring Book Fair and Quilt Show on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.   Thank you to all of our visitors.  Thank you to Barnes and Noble Grand Junction staff for your help and support.  We all enjoyed the day with you.  As in the past, a certain percentage of the Barnes & Noble store sales, as well as the café for that day, came to SSQ for their Community Affairs Projects. We also benefited from your online purchases at barnesandnoble.com. Thank you for your support and help, whether you shopped online or in person.

Special Thanks to Helen Baltz-Jones and all Sunset Slope Quilters who volunteered their time to make a wonderful presentation on this day.

Watch for our next Quilt Show and Book Fair Event this year at Barnes & Noble Book Store in Grand Junction.

The quilt show featured our “Deck of Cards” mini quilt challenge.

What Card am I?

Members of our guild have drawn a card from a deck of cards and the challenge is to design a 16″ x 20″ mini quilt representing that card and design the back of the card, too.

Angels and Christmas Trees was the theme at Barnes and Noble on December 17, 2016.  The Quilt show was sponsored by Sunset Slope Quilters and hosted by Barnes & Noble in Grand Junction.  We would like to thank Barnes & Noble and especially Laura Mettauer for helping make this possible.

Sherri Creer and Mary Leach coordinated the event, collecting and displaying dozens of quilt entries for public judging.  Smaller-sized wall quilts up to 30″ x 36″ were on display.

Names were drawn and we were even able to give one of the quilts to a lady who was in the café that evening! Thanks so much to Wendy Bain and Gini Bright for donating such beautiful wall quilts for this event.

Thanks to our volunteers, and of course, to Mary and Sherri!
