Presented to you on March 22-23, 2019
At Mesa Mall Shopping Center, Grand Junction, Colorado 81505
Please Enjoy our Presentations
Sunset Slope Quilters are dedicated to sharing many of our projects with others in our community each year.
Each year we make and give approximately 250 Christmas Stockings to the Mesa County Foster Children Program. Every Child deserves a gift to remember the reason for the Christmas celebrations.
Our generous members send many gifts of love to the St. Mary’s Cancer Treatment Center for those who are facing difficult medical treatment. These gifts of love are lap-size Quilts as forever gifts.
Mesa County has a long-term “Habitat for Humanity” program. Sunset Slope Quilters participates in this program by donating a quilt to be shared by the family of a successfully completed home. Keep in mind that each of these quilts take 6 to 9 months to complete.
This past year, our Sunset Slope Quilters accepted a challenge to collect quilts and quilting supplies to donate to our quilting friends who lost everything in the Paradise California fires. We presented pictures for you to view at the Mesas to Monuments quilt show.
Some of these “Community Affairs” projects were presented at the Mesas to Monuments Show this year.
Our Mesas to Monuments Quilt Show featured a “Bed Turning” presentation for Antique Quilts at 11:00 AM and at 2:00 PM each day. All Entries in the Antique Quilts must have been made before January of 1960.
Here are pictures of our member’s treasured heirloom quilts that qualifies as an Antique (pre-1960).
A Quilt Show requires a great effort from a great TEAM! Sunset Slope Quilters make great Team. Here is a few photos to let you know a little about the planning and preparation that was required. Yeah Team!
You know how they say the third time’s a charm? In this case, It’s only because there were two large shows before that provided the foundation on which to learn to be able to build and grow.
The first round of thanks goes to those who had the vision, courage and energy to build something from the ground up: Thank you to Vicky Smith and Lauri Burgesser and all those who drove to the Front Range to pick up the racks, those who labored and learned along the way in so many ways. It took a lot of courage, and we are very grateful to you all.
The second round of applause goes to those who entered your beautiful pieces of art. Without you, there would not be a quilt show. We have so much collective talent and many comments were received about how beautiful the quilts were.
Finally, our sincere thanks to those of you who volunteered your time and efforts, including the quilt show committee members, to make the show the success that it was. This includes the many family members who helped with the tough jobs such as hauling racks and setting up.
We had over 1000 visitors (not including all the wonderful volunteers and vendors) to SSQ’s quilt show over Friday and Saturday. There were many positive comments about the show, too many to mention here. All in all, a big success, thanks to the efforts of everyone!
Thank You from our Committee Chairs.
